The History of Graduate Education in Singapore of Antai College of Economics and Management, Shanghai Jiao Tong University
In order to actively participate in the international higher education competition and lead China's high-level degree and postgraduate education to go abroad, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), with the approval of Chinese Ministry of education, has held the master's degree of business administration (MBA) in Singapore since 1992. In more than 20 years, it has trained more than 600 business elites, made contributions to the education and management cause of Singapore. It has also laid a solid foundation for exploring the way of overseas education for Chinese universities.
In November 2001, Shanghai Jiao Tong University signed an agreement with Nanyang Technological University (NTU) of Singapore. Shanghai Jiao Tong University moved its Singapore teaching point to NTU. In October 2002, SJTU established its "Singapore Graduate School of Shanghai Jiao Tong University". The joint MBA program between Antai College of Economics and Management (ACEM) of SJTU and Business School of NTU is part of the new Graduate School. But the Graduate School was not officially registered in Singapore at that time.
The purpose of this joint MBA program is to cultivate business talents with global vision and international competitiveness, familiar with Chinese business environment and Chinese market, at the same time familiar with modern management experience and business operation mode. Since 2002, nearly 400 students from different countries and industries with diverse backgrounds have obtained the master's degree of Business Administration issued by SJTU. The joint program not only enhanced academic exchanges between the two universities, but also cultivated a group of high-level and practical professionals for trade and economic development between China and Singapore, and thus became the link of economic, trade and cultural exchanges between the two countries. The experience accumulated through this joint program is of great significance to the international development strategy of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and lays a solid foundation for Chinese universities to explore international education.
In addition to MBA education, ACEM has also launched its EMBA education and non-degree executive education programs in Singapore, too.
