President Zhang Jie Met with Sidney Leibovich

On the afternoon of April 28, President Zhang Jie met with Sidney Leibovich and his wife in the new Administration Building A. On behalf of Cornell University, Sidney Leibovich, member of National Academy of Engineering, and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, Samuel B. Eckert Professor at Cornell University, visited SJTU to discuss and hold talks on further cooperation and exchange between Cornell University and SJTU.

SJTU and Cornell University have established over seven years of close cooperation on agronomy, and the cooperation covers a wide area including scientific research, joint training of students and student exchange, etc, and is moving towards a deeper level. After the fruitful talks, both sides agree that on the basis of current cooperation, Cornell University and SJTU will further deepen cooperation, especially on cooperative scientific research and education in sustainable social development. After the talks, Professor Sidney Leibovich delivered a speech titled "To Promote the Future of Sustainable Development: What Is the Mission of Universities?" to SJTU faculty and students in Guangbiao Building. On that morning, Professor Sidney Leibovich and his wife visited School of Naval Architecture Ocean and Civil Engineering and School of Mechanical Engineering.
