From Nov. 24 to 29, 2011, President Zhang Jie paid a visit to Belgium and the United Kingdom. At the headquarters of European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) in Brussels, Belgium, President Zhang chaired the 2011 Board of Directors Meeting of China Europe International Business School (CEIBS). He stopped by and visited Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and Katholieke Universiteit Leuven. While meeting with SJTU alumni in Britain, President Zhang attended the launching ceremony of SJTU Alumni Association UK. And he visited the University of Surrey where both parties signed the cooperation agreement, and the University of Manchester where the joint DBA program was launched. President Zhang Jie also met with Chancellor of Queen's University at the airport.

During the European trip, President Zhang Jie delivered four lectures to Chinese students and scholars at Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, University of Cambridge and Imperial College London.

Besides, President Zhang Jie stopped by and visited the Royal Academy of Engineering where President Sir John Parker awarded President Zhang Jie the Foreign Member certificate of Royal Academy of Engineering.
