President, Faculty and Students Gathered at “Hope Cup” Game
On the pitch of South Stadium on Minhang Campus, a keen football match was played between football teams from School of Mechanical Engineering and School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. It was the quarterfinal of the 23rd "Hope Cup".
During the game, a familiar figure entered the stadium, which amazed every one present and it turned out to be President Zhang Jie who quietly came in the audience. President Zhang waved his greetings and cheered the players. After the game, he also talked and had group photo with players.
It was a letter from a member of SJTU Football Association that invited President Zhang to the pitch and was answered with his willing acceptance. The presence of President Zhang in the game is not impromptu, but reflects that SJTU has attached great importance to students' physical exercise, university sports and campus culture. It will also encourage students to actively participate in campus sports for physical fitness, laying a solid physical basis for study, life and work.
