President Zhang Jie met with President of the Pennsylvania State University

On March 24, President Zhang Jie met with President of the Pennsylvania State University (Penn State) Dr. Rodney A. Erickson and his three-person delegation at the New Administration Building on Minhang Campus. Xi Lifeng, executive dean of the School of Mechanical Engineering (ME), and vice dean Liu Yingzheng were also present.

During the meeting, President Zhang briefed the history and the current situation of SJTU, expressed his gratification that the School of Mechanical Engineering of SJTU has carried out a comprehensive cooperation with the Penn State, and looked ahead that Penn State and SJTU will join their hands to extend the cooperation to other engineering fields in the future.

In response, President Erickson highly praised the rapid development of SJTU and expressed his expectation that the two universities should have more cooperation in the field of aeronautics and astronautics, materials science, energy and so forth. After the meeting, the delegation visited the Sino-Italy Green Energy Building and other laboratories of the School of Mechanical Engineering.

The School of Mechanical Engineering has conducted all-round cooperation with the Penn State and has achieved prominent result in the field of student exchange, joint education program, summer school, international students engineering design project, teacher exchange, full English teaching and co-holding international conferences.
