President Zhang Wenjun met with Vice Rector for Research and Technology of University of Stuttgart, Germany

On the afternoon of March 26, SJTU Vice President Zhang Wenjun met with the delegation led by Prof. Laschat, Vice Rector for Research and Technology of University of Stuttgart, Germany.  

Zhang Wenjun extended a warm welcome to the visiting guests. He introduced SJTU's rapid growth in recent years and great progress made in discipline construction, teaching and research. SJTU actively implements the international cooperation strategy and promotes partnerships with world-class universities. The University of Stuttgart is a long-term partner of SJTU, which paves way for further cooperation.

Prof. Laschat agreed. She said the two universities share a lot in common and there is big room for cooperation especially in medicine, machinery, and environment. She proposed to establish the alumni network as a resource platform, which can better promote the bilateral cooperation and exchange.

Zhang Wenjun also mentioned the "Germany Week" events to be held in this October at SJTU. He invited Germany professors to visit SJTU and participate in the cultural activity which aims to promote the Sino-German understanding and friendship.

The University of Stuttgart is a leading science and engineering university in German, and has a nearly thirty-year partnership with SJTU. In 1980s, SJTU sent several teachers to further their studies at University of Stuttgart. The two universities have had fruitful cooperation in the mechanical manufacturing field
