From April 17 to April 27, 2012, the SJTU delegation led by Vice President Xu Fei visited Belgium and Italy, attended the1st China-EU High-level People-to-People Dialogue Forum and participated in the China Higher Education Exhibition. They also had a free talk with some overseas SJTU alumni.

The first destination of this visit was Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KU Leuven). The SJTU delegation attended the seminar on the cooperation between KU Leuven and Chinese universities, and introduced how SJTU as a famous research-intensive university contributes to the regional and national economic development and how SJTU deepens cooperation programs with overseas universities. 18 leading Chinese universities participated in this education exhibition including Zhejiang University, Renmin University of China, Nankai University, Tianjin University, Tongji University, and etc.  

The SJTU delegation attended the seminar on the cooperation between six universities located in the francophone area of Belgium and then visited several universities including Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB),Sapienza Universita Di Roma, and Universita Degli Studi Di Milano. During the visit, Xu Fei met with heads of these universities, introduced SJTU and discussed with them on the cooperation in talent education, international education, research, cultural exchange and other fields.

Accompanied by Guido Vercammen, Director of the Board of Group T , Xu Fei specially met with the SJTU alumni studying and working there. He was glad at the news that the exchange students from SJTU won the championship of the solar auto competition and encouraged the alumni to work harder for greater achievements.

Xu Fei was accompanied by Vice Dean Xu Min of School of International Education and Deputy Secretary Gong Qiang of the CCYL SJTU Committee during the visit.
