GIA President Donna Baker Visits SJTU

  

President of GIA (Gemological Institute of American) Ms. Donna Baker visited SJTU Xuhui Campus on the afternoon of May 21 with a delegation of 11 people. SJTU Vice President Zhang Wenjun met with the delegation. Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee of School of Media & Design Yin Jiejin and Executive Director of SJTU Jewelry Fashion Industry Research Center Shi Jian attended the meeting.

Vice President Zhang Wenjun introduced the past and present development of SJTU in detail and expressed SJTU's opening up policy and its wish of friendly cooperation. He also exchanged opinions with GIA delegation on university management, the curriculum setting and teaching of gemological research. During the meeting he presented an SJTU souvenir to GIA.

GIA is a non-profit institute that integrates education, research and identifying of jewelry. As the world' most influential authority on diamonds, colored stones and pearls, it is hailed as "Harvard" in the jewelry industry.

Currently GIA is in close collaboration with SJTU School of Media & Design. GIA courses are effectively carried out to cultivate the most professional and authoritative gemologists for China and the world.
