President Zhang Jie Meets with President of University of Rochester
On the evening of June 1, President Zhang Jie met with Joel Seligman, President of University of Rochester and his delegation. Zhang Jie introduced the recent-year developments SJTU had made, and hoped that the two universities would expand cooperation fields and methods of on the basis of the existing scientific cooperation. Seligman highly praised SJTU's developments and believed that closer cooperation would be carried out between the two sides in economic management and other fields.
Zhang Weimin, Chief of Division of International Cooperation and Exchange and Li Yuan, Executive Dean of Antai College of Economics and Management also attended the meeting.
The University of Rochester, founded in 1850, is a private, nonsectarian, research university in Rochester, New York, United States. It was among the top 10 universities in United States. The university grants undergraduate and graduate degrees, including doctoral and professional degrees. It has nearly ten schools and colleges and various interdisciplinary programs, and is considered a "New Ivy". In its history five university alumni, two faculty, and one senior research associate at Strong Memorial Hospital have been awarded a Nobel Prize; eight alumni and four faculty members have won a Pulitzer Prize, and 19 faculty members have been awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship.
