Lloyd’s Register CEO Richard Sadler Visits

On the afternoon of June 14, SJTU President Zhang Jie met with Lloyd's Register CEO Richard Sadler and his group.

President Zhang first expressed his warm welcome to the visit of Mr. Richard Sadler and briefed the history and current situations of SJTU. He mentioned the long-standing partnership between Lloyd's Register and SJTU: Lloyd's Register has set up a scholarship at SJTU and Lloyd's Education Foundation has helped fund the UCL-SJTU-HEU Deepwater Engineering and Hydrodynamics Joint Research Institute.

Lloyd's Register CEO Richard Sadler first expressed that he was really pleased to visit SJTU and briefed that Lloyd's Register as the world's earliest Classification Society always attaches great importance to the cooperation with colleges and universities. He hoped that the Group could help as much as possible to fund higher education and scientific research.

Guests from Lloyd's Register and Lloyd's scholarship-winning students met at Conference Room A1008, Mulan Building (School of Naval Architecture, Ocean & Civil Engineering Building) on Minhang Campus. Students expressed their deep gratitude to Lloyd's Register. Mr. Richard Sadler responded that the learning orientation and research fields of the students have great potential and therefore he hoped that the students should keep going and the Group will offer more help to them.

Later, visiting guests from Lloyd's Register also visited Deepwater Offshore Basin.
