President Zhang Jie Meets with Rector Marco Gilli of Polytechnic University of Turin

On the morning of June 21, President Zhang Jie met with Rector Marco Gilli of Polytechnic University of Turin (Politecnico di Torino), Italy. Yan Zheng, Head of Department of Electrical Engineering, and Guo Liang, Deputy Director of Division of International Cooperation and exchange attended the meeting.

Zhang Jie welcomed the visiting of Rector Gilli and reviewed the bilateral cooperation of nearly one decade. Five students from SJTU Department of Electrical Engineering have received doctor's degree from Polytechnic of Turin. Zhang Jie pointed out that cooperation should be strengthened in electrical engineering and expanded in the fields of smart grid and clean energy, etc.

Gilli said, he was pleased with the partnership with SJTU and agreed with President Zhang Jie. He suggested student exchange in the undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Both sides also discussed about and reached agreement on cooperation fields and future substantive ways of cooperation.

Founded in 1906, Polytechnic University of Turin aims to train engineers and architects and is research-driven to lead the national industry and business development. It ranks among the top engineering universities in Europe.
