President Zhang Jie Leads a Delegation to Visit Australia

From July 30 to August 3, 2012, Shanghai Jiao Tong University President Zhang Jie led a delegation of presidents and vice-presidents from the China 9 (C9) research universities to visit Australia and attend the Vice-Chancellor joint meeting of Group of 8 (Go8). Chinese Ambassador to Australia Mr. Chen Yuming met with the delegation.

At the invitation of Go8, the delegation visited Australian National University (ANU), the University of Sydney, the University of New South Wales (NUSW), the University of Melbourne and Monash University.

Vice-Chancellor of ANU Ian Young, Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the University of Sydney Michael Spence, President and Vice-Chancellor of NUSW Fred Hilmer, Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the University of Melbourne Glyn Davis and Vice-Chancellor and President of Monash University Ed Byrne respectively met with the delegation.

After bilateral communication on talent cultivation, scientific research and international cooperation, Zhang Jie on behalf of SJTU, signed the student exchange agreements with the University of Sydney and Monash University.
