President and Vice-Chancellor of University of New South Wales (Australia) Visits

On November 2, Prof. Frederick G. Hilmer AO, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of New South Wales (UNSW), led a delegation to visit SJTU. Chairperson of SJTU Council Ma Dexiu and Vice President Zhang Wenjun met with the visiting guests.

Ma Dexiu and Hilmer exchanged views on the influence of online courses on higher education, quality evaluation of university-enterprise cooperation, cooperation in Confucius Institute and other issues of common concern. Both sides showed willingness to further share experience in university management and development strategy formulation.

Witnessed by the university leaders, SJTU KoGuan Law School and UNSW Faculty of Law, SJTU School of Environmental Science and Engineering and UNSW Faculty of Built Environment signed the cooperation agreements.

The University of New South Wales was incorporated in 1949 and is member of the Group of Eight (Go8), a coalition of leading Australian universities. The Confucius Institute at UNSW was co-established by SJTU and UNSW in 2009. Afterwards, both universities have developed substantial cooperation in many fields.
