Vice President Zhang Wenjun Attends the Opening Ceremony of E2S2 Program in Singapore

On November 14, the opening ceremony of "E2S2 (Energy and Environmental Sustainability Solutions for Megacities)" Program which is based on the collaboration between SJTU and NUS (National University of Singapore) was held at NUS.

Tan Eng Chye,  Deputy President (Academic Affairs) and Provost of NUS, Tan Thiam Soon, NTU Vice-Provost (Education), Zhang Wenjun, SJTU Vice President (Research and International Relations), Peng Yinghong, SJTU Assistant President and project leader, and George Loh Chee Ping, chief of the National Research Foundation, were present at the ceremony.

Zhang Wenjun, Tan Eng Chye,  Tan Thiam Soon and Loh Chee Ping respectively gave their speeches and exchanged souvenirs.

E2S2 (Energy and Environmental Sustainability Solutions for Megacities) Program is one of the programs under Singapore CREATE (Campus for Research Excellence and Technological Enterprise) Program. On November 16, Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong attended CREATE's opening ceremony and delivered a speech. So far, including SJTU, the 10 involved world top universities have settled in the site.

Housing some 1,200 researchers on a 67,000 square meter plot, co-located with the NUS University Town, CREATE consumes 360 million SG dollars to be the world's first international comprehensive research and innovation hub. SJTU signed the agreement of E2S2 Program with the Singapore government and NUS on February 22, 2012.
