President Zhang Jie attended the opening ceremony of SJTU Innovation Exchange

On December 27, the opening ceremony of SJTU Innovation Exchange Community was held in the Main Library on Minhang Campus.

President Zhang Jie attended and addressed the ceremony. Attendees were also Zhu Jian, Secretary-General of SJTU Student Affairs Committee (SAC), Su Ying, Vice Director of SJTU Office of Research Management, Zhao Xin, Secretary of CCYL SJTU Committee, Chen Jin, Director of SJTU Library and Chen Yixian, Party-Secretary of Library.

Innovation Exchange Community was co-established by SJTU Library, SAC and Office of Research Management. It aims to cultivate students' sense of innovation, hands-on skill for the purpose of promoting the communication and collaboration on the basis of library. It is to launch activities under the theme of "fostering creative talents and promoting collaborative innovation".

President Zhang Jie congratulated the opening of the Community. He pointed out that universities have already become a source of social innovation and SJTU had made its efforts to build "the systems of distinguished talents cultivation, innovation development and culture heritage", so as to make contributions to the society.

In the warm applause, Zhang Jie, Zhu Jian, Su Ying, Zhao Xin, Chen Jin and Chen Yixian cut ribbon together for the Innovation Exchange Community.

After the ceremony, SJTU-BioX-Shanghai Team led by Academician He Lin, reported their iGEM competition experience to SJTU faculties and students. This team ranked 16th in iGEM World Finals and won the Final Championship in Asian Finals in 2012.
