SJTU Held Summit on 2015 International Image & Communication
On July 23, 2015 Shanghai Jiao Tong University Summit on International Image & Communication and Final Round of the 4thEnglish Websites Campion was held in the Information Building on Minhang campus. SJTU Vice President Huang Zhen, Zhu Jian, SBTC Director Simon Stewart, Pan Xun, Commentator of International affairs from Xinhua News Agency, Cheng Ying as well as other relevant officers attended the forum.
In his speech, Huang Zhen said that the 10th Congress of Party Representatives further determined that internationalization is the major strategy to accelerate the construction of world first class universities. He hoped that SJTU could take the opportunity of International Image Communication and Selection Conference, share the cutting-edge idea of media communication with international specialists, study the excellent cases and exchange the experience of constructing English website with colleagues. With higher goals and requirements, we would construct the English homepage and various levels English websites as platforms to demonstrate our teaching, scientific researches and cultural activities to the world.
In this Forum, Simon Stewart, the director of SBTC, gave a speech on universities' international image communication. He believed that the website for information exchanges should accurately analyze the requirements of audiences so as to build his own brand. He also talked about his opinions on the brand construction of universities. All participants hoped that this forum can paly a role in communication, exchanges, promotion and promotion so as to make all of us attach great importance to the construction of English websites, demonstrate and improve the image of Chinese universities by high-level English websites.
In the forum, Huang Zhen and Zhu Jian launched the App of Chinese and English version of SJTU news.
The 4th selection activity for English websites, co-sponsored by Party Committee Propaganda Department and International Cooperation and Exchanges Department, was launched since May 23, attracting 39 departments to participate. After on-site defense and juries' review, School of Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering and Shanhai Jiao T ong University Library won the Best English Website Award, Antai College of Econimics &Managment, School of Aeronautics and Astronautics, School of Mechnical Engineering, Department of Physics and Astronomy, Koguan Law School of Shanghai Jiao Tong University won the Excellent English Websites Award; School of Naval Architecture, Ocean and Civil Engineering, School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, School of International and Public Affairs, School of Materials Science and Engineering, School of Humanities, School of life Sciences and Biotechnology and School of Foreign Language won the Excellent Organization Award. School of Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering also won the Biggest Fans Award.
