School leaders Attended WLA 2nd Annual Forum and Host Theme Forums

From October 29 to 31, 2019, the WLA 2nd Annual Forum was held at Dishui Lake in LingangArea. This year's forum has gathered a total of 44 Nobel Prize laureates and 21 notable winners of other prestigious academic awards such as the Turing Award, Wolf Prize, Lasker Award, Lasker Award, and Fields medal. Other attendees included more than 10 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences or Chinese Academy of Engineering, over 100 young scientist at home and abroad, well-know entrepreneurs, and representatives of various organizations.The forum's agenda included WLA Young Scientists Forum, International Big Science Projects strategic Dialogue, 8 Theme Forums and WLA Mobius Forum.

Ding Kuiling, executive Vice President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, was invited to host one of the theme forums – Carbon-hydrogen Bond and Novel ChemistrySummit.

 

Professor Chen Saijuan of SJTU School of Medicine and  academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, was invited to host the New Drug Discovery and Translational Medicine Summit. He Lin, Dean of the Bio-X Research Institute of SJTU and academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, was invited to participate in the opening ceremony of the forum.

Shanghai Jiao Tong University has also maintained good relations with the Nobel Prize winners. Tsung Dao(T. D.) Lee Library was initiated by Li Zhengdao, laureate of 2004 Nobel Prize in Physics who also attended this years’ WLA Annuals Forum. American theoretical physicist and winner of Nobel Prize in Physics Frank Wilcek is the first director of theTsung Dao(T. D.) Lee Library.
