One Health is a new paradigm advocated by the international community to address global public health issues. It requires collective efforts at the global, regional, and national levels. On May 8th, the Workshop of One Health Action Commission was established at Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine. It was organized by SJTU School of Medicine and co-hosted by the School of Global Health, Chinese Center for Tropical Diseases Research-SJTU School of Medicine (SGH), and Shanghai Jiao Tong University-The University of Edinburgh One Health Center (OHC).

He emphasized the vital role of international collaboration between OHAC and the Institute of One Health in advancing global health initiatives. He hoped that OHAC would take on the responsibility of setting the global research direction for One Health and recommended policy suggestions to relevant international organizations and foundations. This would enable more research achievements in the field of One Health to be translated into policies in various countries, ultimately serving as a driving force to achieve the UN’s sustainable development goals and build a community with a shared future for humanity.
Ding Kuiling, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and President of SJTU, stated that the establishment of the Institute of One Health at SJTU represents a new milestone in global collaboration for One Health. It signifies that SJTU is taking a further step in research and education in the field of health.
