President Zhang Jie met with Mr. David Naylor, President of University of Toronto

SJTU President Zhang Jie met with the visiting delegation led by Mr. David Naylor, President of University of Toronto on February 20, 2012. A memorandum of understanding and an agreement on academic exchange were signed by both sides.

President Zhang Jie briefed the delegation on SJTU's recent development. SJTU has been seeking for more cooperation with reputable international institutions of higher education to promote internationalization. SJTU and Uni. of Toronto have developed several cooperative projects in mechanical engineering and medical fields and many excellent SJTU alumni have studied at Uni. of Toronto, making contribution to the friendship between the two universities.

President David Naylor expressed his wish for future substantive cooperation in research, student exchange, academic administrative and other fields. 

According to the memo and agreement, SJTU and Uni. of Toronto will make active efforts to further cooperation in mechanical, medical and social sciences, to broaden the channels for student exchange, to increase mutual school trips, and to achieve more scientific collaborations.

Founded in 1827, University of Toronto is a renowned public university with the longest history in Canada. Located in Toronto, it has three campuses, 600 undergraduate programs and 168 postgraduate and doctoral programs.
