SJTU Celebrated 117th Anniversary
Shanghai Jiao Tong University, spanning three centuries and as one of the birthplaces of China's higher education, celebrated the 117th anniversary.
On the morning of April 13, the celebration assembly of SJTU's 117th anniversary was held at the new gymnasium on Minhang Campus. The students, who graduated from SJTU for 30 years, 50 years, 60 years, etc., went back from far and near to the Alma Mater, with their sincere and warm heart. SJTU Chairperson Ma Dexiu, President Zhang Jie and all the leaders of SJTU, together with the alumni, teachers and students, leaders and guests who have always cared about and supported the development of SJTU, celebrated this special and momentous occasion.
Ma Dexiu, with deep emotion, reviewed the development history of SJTU at the meeting that "SJTU was born in a time of national peril, grew up in a time of rejuvenation and prospered at the country's thriving days". Thus, SJTUers should become those who experience and realize the "Chinese Dream" and SJTU should become the leader of China's Dream Team.
Zhang Jie made a speech "SJTU 2020-Let the Dream Light the Reality. He pointed out that "today's China is in a great era of national rejuvenation. We not only have dreams, but we can realize these dreams through hard efforts."
Centennial SJTU have students everywhere. A large number of alumni work all over the world and have made great contributions in all walks of life.
It has been 10 years since the beginning of SJTU President's Award. Over 100 individuals and collectives have won the award, which touches and energizes each and every SJTUer.
The students, who graduated from SJTU for 30 years, 50 years, and 60 years, spontaneously went back from far and near to the Alma Mater, to celebrate SJTU's 117th anniversary.
The Celebration Assembly ended with the loud Singing Country Song. All the teachers, students and alumni presented at the meeting together experienced the unforgettable moment, kept it in mind and wished a more splendid tomorrow for SJTU.
